We patronize the street
Running up and down; the street’s errand
Workers of the street
Making lively mood our land
We enrich the street
With melodious noise that set at noon
We roil the street
With bits and bobs that bury at noon
Loonies crowing lunacy
Haves pleading for penny
Mortals congesting the market
Wondering lovers at vespers
Unwaged roaming the street
Toddlers vending sands to the street
Aged under iroko viewing the street
We total the street!
We are voice of the street
Determinant of the street’s will
We are voice of the street
Singing hymns of war for the street’s right
We own the street
There we bury our dead
We prolong the street
There we name our young
We are architect of the street
God made us: we made the street
We are guest of the street
Leaving naked at night the street
We are of the street!
We are the street!
