Vailiant but Craven within

Upon cold frigid weather when earth wore frozen crystal
Cardigan; and snows adorned trees – when
Life sought haven – warmth
When tree became desolate and sky knew no bird
When stars could not endure the frost of hostile sky; leaving behind
The moon to day the arctic night
In dumb and frozen darkness
I climbed mountains!

In hot torrid weather when earth wore boiling steam
Sudor; and trees gaze their baking leaves – when
Life sought haven – shade
When crops for thirst die and soil knew no weed
When sun emits burning rays from enraged sky; making oven
Atmosphere to roast the sizzling day
In silent and scorching sunlight
I roved desert!

Have wondered seas that beget oceans
The nibble of sharks taste better than whale
I survived both!
Have survived battles that defeated knights
Fought and conquered titans – the same
Gladiators that crushed formidable warriors
Have wrestled lions; their den
I pitched my tent!

Have soared beyond altitudes eagles fear to attain
I came across the fury of death
My strength dwindled not a little
Have fought my own freedom
I fought many; won all but one
The same many failed to win – the smallest of all
Between good and bad; the combat in all souls
That rekindles daily; beneath!
